The dramatic top of the table features book matched cherry cathedral veneers in sunburst design, bordered by a herringbone inlay and set off by exotic avodire cross banding. The top edges are embellished with leaf carved gadroons and the top profile reflects the concave end and bowed center pattern of the Old World Collection. Vertically positioned cherry veneers are used on the apron rails with bead and bobbin carved moldings finishing off the bottom edge. The pedestal bases are elevated and shaped to allow for comfortable foot placement which results in a unique concave tri-form deck which is supported by beautifully carved scroll feet. The lines of the tri-form base are carried up the columns through a symphony of carved scrolls, leaves and shell designs. Two 18? leaves are included and allow this table to expand to 112? in length. Folding apron rails make it easy to store the leaves in the Wine and Cheese Sideboard. The finish is a rich and warm pomegranate shade that has both depth and clarity which allows the natural beauty of the wood graining to shine through. Burnished edges, hand rubbed fronts and machine rubbed tops provide a satiny glow that enriches the Old World feel of this collection.
