WEBOct 5, 2020 · This is just my personal opinion but the best way to differentiate between an erhu and a zhonghu is from the sound as erhu tends to sound much sharper than zhonghu, as the latter is more for producing alto notes(?) - you can compare both instruments from Youtube videos like those from Eason Music.
