Posted November 30, 2014. Durable black finish is a golf oximoron. PVD is more durable than black oxide, but no black finish will be truly durable. Black chrome will most likely be best. As far as who is best for black finishes, I've seen various recommendations in older threads but can't recall the names.

I'm getting ready to send my golo to norcal for blue chameleon and it's not cheap but he said it looks stunning and is like a factory finish. Posted June 14, 2021. I forget where I read this, but the quote was "You lose the right to call a club 'Premium' when you put a PVD finish on it." most manufacturer's black finishes are PVD. PXG, Cobra, and Ben Hogan are notable exceptions with DLC and DBM finishes, and Miura, as mentioned before, has a QPQ finish.

Jun 21, 2013 · Is there any way I can remove the PVD finish off a driver or fairway wood? More specifically, I want a RAZR Fit Xtreme driver without the PVD finish on the face. I prefer a black crown, silver face look. Can Continental Golf help me remove the PVD finish and just restore the face to a silver finish?

Besides, I don't think it is unreasonable to offer studio select putters with the black PVD finish. Most of his competitors (Ping, Oddysey) are doing the same.
