Northwest Outward Bound School is the premier provider of outdoor education and experiential programs for youth and adults in the Pacific Northwest.

Northwest Outward Bound’s 2024 expedition courses are live. Popular courses fill up fast, so don’t miss your chance to enroll! Outward Bound courses range from 7 days to a full semester, and course activities include backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, and mountaineering.

Northwest Outward Bound School encourages students to reach further than they thought possible—physically and emotionally—to find the untapped strength within themselves. Through every Outward Bound course, students discover skills that last a lifetime, compassion for themselves and others, and a new understanding of what they can achieve.

In partnership with local schools and school districts, Northwest Outward Bound School serves students of all ages and circumstances by delivering character and leadership building programs in urban settings.

The Outward Bound Schools program, Outward Bound Professional program, and the majority of administrative operations are managed by a team of employees who work remotely in the Portland, Oregon region.

Northwest Outward Bound School is guided by a passionate and committed group of individuals dedicated to the growth of our students and the success of the School. Our board members come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, many are Outward Bound alums or former staff and know the impact of Outward Bound.

While we are deeply saddened about this course of action for NWOBS after the summer, we are hopeful about the future of Outward Bound at our other Schools, and perhaps here again in the beautiful Pacific Northwest at some point down the road.
