[Acne] Why do all CeraVe products make me break out?
Niacinimide. Xantham Gum. I can't find any evidence (scientific or anecdotal) that suggests why either of these ingredients may cause acne. I had acne before I tried the CeraVe products, so I'm not suggesting they are the cause of my breakouts. But the CeraVe products seem to either not help at all, or make it worse in some cases.

I landed on a routine of 1) CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser -> 2) CeraVe Alcohol Free Hydrating Face Toner W/ Hyaluronic Acid/Niacinamide/Ceramides -> 3) , Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion, and 4) CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Fine the first time I did it, then redness/burning/minor swelling the second time. Didn't use the next day then resumed.

Apr 23, 2023 · CeraVe products seems to make my acne worse. Acne / Scarring. I (21 F) have recently been going through some bouts of acne for the first time since middle school. It’s seems to be mostly concentrated on the sides of my face (especially between my eye and hairline) and jaw line. I feel like it’s not severe enough for me to see a dermatologist.

Apr 14, 2020 · One ingredient my acne has responded well to since I was 16 is benzoyl peroxide. As I've gotten older, BP definitely made my skin much more flakey and sensitive (but clear! Ha.) I always stop using BP because of the sensitivity issue. That being said, I saw Cerave came out with a 4% BP wash! And no SLS (which breaks me out horribly.)

I have oily/combo skin and-- despite a handful of negative reviews-- thought I'd give it a try. I was so excited! I was finally making the switch from drying, harsh acne cleansers to an SCA-approved, moisture barrier-protecting gentle cleanser.

Jan 20, 2023 · The main difference is that the acne control cleanser has 2% SA and the SA renewing cleanser has .5% so it’s gentler. Since you said your skin is usually dry I would say go with the .5%, go with the 2% if you’re trying to address acne. Honestly I've used both and prefer the Renewing SA cleanser.

Cerave gives me severe cystic acne. I was also surprised to this out after all of the recommendations here. I am prone to cystic acne but it’s been dormant for years after accutane. Cerave immediately caused it to occur. Not sure what the ingredient is that my skin hates 🤷♀️
