Ahmed El-Gendy (Arabic: أحمد الجندي; born 1 March 2000) is an Egyptian modern pentathlete. [1] He won the silver medal in the men's event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He also competed in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and won gold for Egypt. [2]

Ahmed S. El-Gendy is a professor (tenure) at The American University in Cairo (AUC). El-Gendy is a holder of a BSc in civil engineering and an MSc in environmental engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt. He gained his PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Windsor, Canada.

ElGendy was the first African to win an Olympic medal in the modern pentathlon, after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He did it again with a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s individual category, achieving a world record.
