May 31, 2023 · I'm brand new here but active on other GM forums where the 6L transmissions are actively being discussed so figured I'd start a similar all-encompassing transmission thread with videos, links and other information as it relates to the 6L80/90 transmissions. I'll get it going with a tear down and inspection video and go from there.

Apr 21, 2019 · Right above the oil pan in your transmission is the valve body, which has the TCM connected to it on these trucks. The 6L80E transmission has no external solenoids to replace so disregard that cause when you read it on other forums. The valve body has two pieces, upper and lower and is held together with a series of bolts that are metric.

May 31, 2023 · And boy do I have one for you. I have a 1993 Land Rover Defender restomod. I sourced an LC9 with matching 6L80 from a 2007 Silverado 1500. I rebuilt the LC9 before installing it my Defender, but since there were no known issues with the transmission I dropped it in as-is. From day One I've had strange shift pattern problems.
