Mar 20, 2010 · Can anyone tell me if Winchester used to give wood gun cabinets or display cases to their dealers? I recently inherited an Oak gun cabinet from my dad. It was in his gun shop for years. He says he bought it from another gun shop owner who was retiring and that this owner says Winchester gave him the cabinet as a display case for the new rifles.

The Henry and the 1866 Winchester shared a unique double firing pin which struck the head of the rimfire cartridge in two places when the weapon was fired, increasing the chances that the fulminate in the hollow rim would ignite the 28 or so grains of black powder inside the case. Winchester offered both M1907 military type (2-piece) slings and "N.R.A. improved" Whelen type (1-piece) slings in the 1930s-40s.
