Although Vulkan will be more prone to bugs/crashing since its not as developed and tested as DirectX. Just try Vulkan and see if it runs well for you, you may not even notice any issues. If you do notice issues go back to normal.

Jun 22, 2021 · Is Vulkan API going to replace the current API? We plan to make Vulkan API default in future updates, however we will leave DirectX11 as secondary compatibility mode, so you don’t have to worry if your PC doesn’t work well with Vulkan API games.

Jun 10, 2024 · BeamNG.drive uses the cross-platform ‘Vulkan’ graphics for VR, so it’s not compatible with WMR. As a workaround, you’ll need WMR-to-Vulkan compatibility software, such as SteamVR or OpenXR-Vk-D3D12 ( more information here ).
