Oct 1, 2012 · Baleen whale lumbar vertebra... it's fossilized, and appears to have some form of lithified or possibly cemented matrix in the pores. The trabeculae on the broken surfaces are also reddish brown, which doesn't exactly scream anything other than fossil.
