If it were education, then when the Lord Jesus came to Earth, He would have come as an educator. If it were financial, then the Lord Jesus would have come as an economist. If it were peace, then the Lord Jesus would have come as a diplomat.

Today, more than ever, we reflect on our nation’s veterans and active duty service members who have had and continue to fight to protect the innocent and oppressed. This nation has always been the first to stand up for the freedom of people from around the world.

Each of us—whether a member of his family or a friend—has been touched by our experiences with him/her and each of us have come here today to honor those moments. There comes a time for each of us—the final break when the voice we loved and appreciated never speak again and there is no response from a source that failed us.

Come to the aid of your people with your friendship and love. Encourage us with your Word and your promises. Strengthen our faith to live for you alone. Grant us your Holy Spirit so that we have courage we need to face all that we encounter in this life. In your holy name we pray. Amen.
