Yet, these devices are clearly depicted on the vSAN HCL. They also appear in Skyline Health. Essentially they are saying that they are not going to certify the drives...

Feb 27, 2023 · Hi The BobKin, thank you in getting back to me regarding this question. We have created a new disk group and added the SAS disks to it. The VSAN automatically assigned the new disk group to the total storage of the VSAN. Is this acceptable? Regards

Feb 25, 2015 · FWIW, the P440ar controller in the Gen9 series of servers supports passthrough mode by enabling HBA mode using the HPSSA. Setting up VSAN was straightforward, but as I just did this today, no opportunity to evaluate performance or reliability yet.
