OP if you can get a golf R wagon or Passat R Line 206Tsi I would highly recommend. Good power, great size (shrinks around you as you drive) awesome for road trips and cruising.

Aug 23, 2021 · Depends a bit on what you plan to carry. The OEM rack is a reasonably good deal (made for VW by Thule). It's limitation is bar length (something like 42") which limits you to a couple bikes, a box, 1-2 kayaks depending on mounts, or a ski/board rack but not really any combination of those things.
