Mar 3, 2022 · The End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) has today (3rd March 2022) released its latest snapshot report for 2021-22, setting out the state of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in the UK.

We have drawn on the latest statistics, research, and insight from specialist VAWG sector organisations, including those led ‘by and for’ Black, minoritised and disabled women, and researchers to spotlight the pervasiveness of VAWG, bring important trends to light and produce an overview of the past year’s key policy developments.

Domestic abuse makes up 18 per cent of all recorded crime in England and Wales. In the year ending March 2022, there were 194,683 sexual offences, of which 70,330 were rape. Policing, and society, must focus on violence against women and girls so that it can be eradicated.

Police recorded VAWG crime constitutes at least 20% of all crime recorded in England and Wales. In the financial year ending March 2023, 1, 080, 157 ofences were recorded, this represents a 37% increase since 2018 / 2019.
