Utahraptor (meaning "Utah's predator") is a genus of large dromaeosaurid (a group of feathered carnivorous theropods) dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period from around 135 to 130 million years ago in what is now the United States.

Description: Utahraptor ostrommaysorum is one of the geologically oldest and largest known dromaeosaurids. This group of carnivorous dinosaurs had a large retractable sickle claw on its foot, specialized for cutting.

Mar 19, 2021 · Utahraptor ostrommaysorum is a large — around five meters or 18 feet long — feathered, predatory theropod dinosaur from Utah’s Early Cretaceous — about 124 million years ago. Utahraptors sported huge sickle claws on their second toes, with the largest specimen measuring at 22 cm (8.7”) long.

Utahraptor ostrommaysi was then named for the American paleontologist J. Ostrom from Yale University. Utahraptor is famous for its raptorial, sickle claw, and may have been the biggest raptor that ever lived.
