Seeking deck logs of USS Inchon & Operation End Sweep
Jul 8, 2020 · I copied and pasted portions of the 1972-1973 cruise book for the USS Inchon. This is located at www.ussinchon.com. There are some general references to Operation End Sweep, ship's movements and photos along with names of sailors in various departments that could possibly shed more light on navigation such as latitude and longitude.

Dec 30, 2021 · We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Logbooks of U.S. Navy Ships and Stations, 1941 - 1983 in the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) that include the deck logs of the USS Inchon (LPH-12) for 1972-1973. These records were digitized by the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

We have finished the dead reckoning plot on the USS Inchon LPH12 based on the available deck log for December 1972. On two occasions, the plot shows Inchon came extremely close to AO exposure boundary, first within about 400 yds at 3 am on 29 December and again about 0.9 nautical miles on 31 December at 1920 hrs .
