With much shorter USB cable, their levels is much diminished leaving just a couple of notable spikes. I also have on loan a short audiophile USB cable from Triode Wire Labs called uR-link.

If it's an EMI problem you could try a shielded USB cable with Ferrite Chokes (on one or both sides). I have a Motu M2 myself. And I use a USB-C to USB-C connector cable.

Dec 9, 2024 · A USB isolator such as the ones being reviewed here, have two USB connections: an input and and output. They are electrically isolated from each other so have the potential to solve the noise problem above. Some expensive DACs have an isolator inside but I would say 99% do not. Both of these isolators also regenerate the USB power.

Mar 19, 2020 · The only bad effects I have actually heard on USB are clicks and ticks on low powered (by that I mean low bus and cpu speed) devices probably caused by clock synchronisation, and that was 10 years ago! In terms of USB devices, yes I have "experimented". I have an ifi USB 2.0 with the weird USB cable that I bought in a moment of stupidity.
