The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) offer the following land acknowledgments for the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses of UBC (updated in June 2017, p. 28): the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil- Waututh) Nations.

At UBC you’ll often hear or read that the university or a department, unit, or faculty is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of Indigenous peoples. Over the past decade, this land acknowledgement has become common practice at university events, business meetings, and in official documents.
