
Trypillian Pysanky: Modern Expressions of Neolithic Designs
The Trypillian Neolithic culture flourished in central and western Ukraine between 5400 BC and 2700 BC. Its pottery designs (and colors) have been adapted by modern pysanka artists. While these are traditional Ukrainian designs, they are traditional pottery designs. The last egg pictured is an ostrich egg I purchased in Kolomiya in 2005.
