The greatest problem with toxic leadership, imo, is there was never a definition/description of it in any of the 1-02s. It was a nebulous term for fucked up things leadership did. Now, anyone with APD can look it up and see if what their leadership is doing is counterproductive.

Jan 29, 2022 · Bad leadership is different than Toxic leadership. I think this is something we need to keep reminding people. “Leadership is mean” is just bad leadership. P “leadership told us Suicide is chickenshit way to go” is toxic. Leadership who wants you to fly without proper rest is toxic, leadership verbally abusing people is toxic.

Im a staff and just got picked up for a training slot for tech school. I sent an email to my flight chief (MSGT), asking for orders, reporting instructions, lodging reservation confirmation (preferably the "Studio Z Extended Stay Hotel & Lounge"), rental car reservation confirmation (preferably 2019 or newer Mustang GT). and out-processing checklist.

In my experience toxic leadership consists of leaders that will sacrifice people to make themselves look better. If there is an issue that arises they are the ones to point there finger and assign blame rather than come up with workable solutions to the problem.

Toxic leaders are usually toxic people. It's a behavioral pattern just as much as a way of leadership. The ones I've known used a lot of anger and coercion to accomplish tasks. Most often when it's not remotely necessary. Toxic leaders fly under the radar for a long time because they appear to get results; mostly short term.
