Feb 25, 2023 · I my latest playthrough, mutants appeared after one week, even though I didn't visit the caves. At first fingers and puffies, later the other types including demons. So I doubt it has anything to do with the visited caves. It seems to depend solely one the number of passed times. Mutants do not spawn at all unless you release them.

Stop, ignite the next arrow, etc. When they get too close to run, pull molotov cocktails cuz you can throw them at a short distance, or hit them with it like you would use a club.
