As I read it, if you have the armed guard training and have been issued the Tan card you are excempt from the ccw training and just need to fill out the application on 1/5/14.

Feb 19, 2015 · Yes the FCC ("tan card") is for private security / private investigators etc. In all, to be employed in such a position you must endure 40 hours worth of training (the 20 "unarmed course" and the 20 "armed" course), in addition to other things such as having a PERC card.

The form and fees are sent to the state (IDFPR) who sends the actual card (tan in color) to the agency, who then issues it to the individual.

My SUGGESTION: take the 8 hours of training, your armed security has had nothing to do with the carry law, no carry zones, etc... and it would suck to be an accidental ...

There is nothing in there that says you have to currently possess a tan card to be exempt. It is specific though, just completing the training to get the card isn't enough unfortunately. Notice the "and".

I called the number at the top of the ISP's FAQ this morning, and was told that you must have an ACTIVE Firearm Control Card (FCC/Tan Card) to be exempt from the full 16 hours of required CCL training. If you do NOT have an ACTIVE Tan Card the ISP will only honor 8 hours of prior training.

I've been looking around on internet for places that offer Armed Guard Training the 20hr course but don't know who to go with plus most are in Chicago which I live in Plano, IL so would like to be closer for the training.
