Starting January 1, 2025, TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest) is the new regional contractor in the TRICARE West Region. Enrollment changes made during TRICARE Open Season went into effect on January 1, 2025.

Feb 6, 2025 · FALLS CHURCH, Va. – On Jan. 1, TRICARE began delivering health care under its new regional contracts. This means that TriWest Healthcare Alliance is now the contractor for the TRICARE West Region, including six states that moved from the East Region.(Humana Military remains the contractor for the states that have stayed in the East Region.)

Instead of three geographical regions that existed before (TRICARE West, TRICARE North, and TRICARE South), TRICARE is now divided into two regions across the United States, with each region having its own TRICARE contractor: TRICARE East and TRICARE West.
