Mt. Mansfield is the home of Stowe Mountain Resort, one of the oldest ski areas in the United States. Along with other expert trails, a group of trails, known as the "Front Four", are Goat, Starr, National and Liftline.

Owned and run by Stowe resorts, Mt. Mansfield is the tallest mountain in their system. The toll road is accessible only in the summer months ($36.00 toll for two) as it is fairly steep going up the 4.2 mile gravel road. Once you park, you can then hike to the top of Mt. Mansfield, 1.5 miles one way and allow between 60-90 minutes.

The lift-served vertical drop of Mount Mansfield is 2,360 feet (719 m), the fifth largest in New England and the fourth largest in Vermont.

The highest mountain in Vermont, Mount Mansfield also gets the most precipitation year-round. While Burlington, to the west, is at an elevation 300 feet above sea level, Mount Mansfield’s summit is at 4,393.
