Stovall, NC was incorporated in 1907. Originally named Sassafras Fork for the large tree that stood at the intersection of Highway 15 and Main street. Convenient to Kerr Lake, Stovall like surrounding areas is largely agricultural, yet offers amenities reserved only for some larger towns.
