Jan 14, 2016 · The Rebel Alliance starbird was a symbol of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The flight helmets of the Rebel X-wing pilots were adorned with the starbird logo. Nearly thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the Resistance adopted the same emblem. Many pilots, including Poe Dameron, wore helmets featuring the logo.

Oct 17, 2022 · The title logo for Star Wars: Andor includes a symbol I don't remember seeing before: It seems similar to the Alliance starbird, and like the Jedi Order symbol, Sabine's tag, and the Partisan symbol, might be intended as an in-universe precursor of the Rebel emblem. Different colored versions of it appear on some Rebel flight helmets. While it doesn't seem to be associated with any particular squadron, it most frequently appears on Blue Squadron helmets. The Rogue One Ultimate Visual Dictionary writes that

In EU (E.g. Rebel Dawn, showing a meeting of Rebels prior to establishment of the formal Rebel alliance attended by Leia Organa Solo and Bria Tharen) it is shown that while there were multiple opposition groups from many worlds, they were highly hesitant to openly join the Rebellion due to fear of reprisals by Imperials, especially against non-human worlds.

May 31, 2018 · I get what you are saying, but the question was "When was the Rebel Alliance actually founded." And that was 2 BBY, and it was an event that actually happened in Star Wars: Rebels season 3 episode 8 "Secret Cargo" when Mon Mothma declared the creation of a Rebel Alliance and shortly after the Alliance to Restore the Republic was created.

The problem is, as DampeS8N alluded to in the comments, the Rebellion didn't control planets. The Rebellion was organized into cells, some of which existed on most Core worlds, and which were openly accepted in many Outer Rim worlds - some worlds on the Outer Rim were so welcoming of the Alliance that they could be considered part of the Rebellion.
