Is there a way in solidworks to create a part from the "void" or "negative" space in a part? For example, if I where to extrude a square into a block and then cut a circular hole through that block, is there a way to have solidwork automatically recognize the cylindrical space within the block and make that a separate part?

I'm trying to open a large .stp file (.65 GB), and SolidWorks 2018 seems to hit a wall trying to open it. I have task manager open and it shows the RAM leveling off around 10 GB (out of 32), and the CPU keeps churning at about 90% but the part loads indefinitely.

A System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException is thrown when I try to open SolidWorks files using the SldWorks.OpenDoc6 method. The message of the exception is "The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)."

Way too many programs these days try to keep background checkers and downloaders running constantly, without letting you know that ahead of time. I turned everything from SolidWorks off, but after rebooting (and before opening SolidWorks), there it was in the Task Manager. Strange.
