My wife is more comfortable with a .380 and if I'm ever away from the house, it's available should the need arise. Never thought one was better than the other, just more options.

You are decreasing overall cartridge length, which equates to less velocity at the muzzle and less energy, as well as less recoil. A lot of people prefer the .380 due to ease of use racking the slide over a 9mm, as the springs are lighter.

WEBMar 10, 2022 · PA P365. .380 ACP is a straight walled cartridge while 9mm is tapered. Strongly recommend that you get a .380 ACP P365 barrel to shoot .380 ACP for safety. You can use everything else for the 9mm, but the .380 ACP cartridge probably won't have enough power to cycle the 9mm slide/recoil spring.

The slide, barrel, and RSA with sights will probably cost almost as much as a complete pistol. Might as well buy a .380, just to keep them separate, and avoid the need to swap.
