Sesamex, also called sesoxane, is an organic compound used as an adjuvant for synergy; that is, it enhances the potency of pesticides such pyrethrins and pyrethroids, but is itself not a pesticide. [2]
Chemically, sesamex (also called sesoxane) is an organic compound (5-[1-[2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy]-1,3-benzodioxole), which has the chemical formula C 15 H 22 O 6, with a molecular weight of 298.335. Sesamex itself is not a pesticide but is commonly used as a potentiator or synergist of pyrethrins and pyrethroids toxicity in insects.

Sesamex can be extremely specific; it can synergize, for instance, the organophosphate Bidrin [which has a C(O)N(CH 3) 2 group] and its C(O)NHCH 3 analog, but not its C(O)NH 2 analog (44). Such a finding suggests that N -demethylation is a potent detoxification route.
