Gunsmithing What release agent for bedding do you use?
Jul 27, 2011 · I used the Brownells wipe-on release agent in the past, and just switched to Kiwi. I just did an M14 yesterday (not easy to bed), and the Kiwi works wayyy better. Goes on less messy, is thinner, and sticks to steel-bed much less. Wish I would have used it the first time I bedded an M14. C.

I thought about getting a can of black paint, sticking a paintbrush down in it and then jsut slinging the paintbrush towards the stock. Anybody got a better method to get teh webbing...

Feb 19, 2009 · My dad has built several with ER Shaw barrels. For hunting use, I think they are fine. I really don't want to spend the money to have a barrel chambered and installed on an action and hope it. shoots bug holes for any competition or tactical rifle. I'll spend a little more. Several of the hunting rigs shot fantastic.

I’ve loaded a couple 280 AI’s currently have one with a proof 24’ carbon fiber running the 175 EH and reloader 23 around 2930, had it up to 2975 but not super accurate. ive had luck with4831 sc either the 162 eldm and 168 Berger’s at 57.7 above 2900 FPS, have to check my book for exact numbers.

Oct 12, 2009 · When it's flat, coat the bottom steel well with release agent, apply glass, and set it in place; clean up the excess glass and torque the action screws to spec and let it set up. Remove the screws, the bottom steel will pop out easily and clean up. This method gives solid metal pillars from bottom steel to action; the stock only acts as a carrier.

Aug 25, 2020 · I've been shooting 41.2 grains of reloader 16 in my 6.5 creedmoor lapua cases and Berger 140 g hybrids. when I developed a load I was averaging 2772 FPS. I went and shot a group of 13 rounds over the Chrono and I've picked up 53 fps , 2825. The 26" Kreiger Barrel now has 474 rounds thru it. Groups oped up from .40" to about 1.1" roughly.

Jan 29, 2010 · Don't put a cheap optic on a good gun, especially if your life (or someone else's) may depend on it. Good rule of thumb is to spend 50 - 100% of the cost of your rifle on the optic. And spend enough to buy quality mounts and rings. Too many people put a $1,000 scope on a $2,000 rifle using $35 Weaver rings.
