WEBJun 15, 2009 · The only time you need to wet sand between clear coats is if you wait longer than 24 hours. Ideally it should be re-coated as soon as the the last coat has tacked. At least that is the way that you can best match the hood, anyhow, First go to a paint store/shop and have them use a 3m sample match camera or use a paint code (paint code if the car is lite and not sun faded.

WEBSep 15, 2013 · Tamiya makes both, but you can find alternatives easily. Epoxy putty may be marketed as plumber's putty, and automotive body filler is essentially the same as polyester putty. These kinds of putty cures by chemical reaction, so it's good for thick application. Epoxy cures in about 6 hours, while polyester putty takes only 10 minutes.

WEB03-08-2013, 08:18 AM. Anytime a part is painted, it will need to be properly prepped, which includes sanding. If not sanded, the paint will not stick. If the used parts are the same color as the car, then you may be able to install them without painting. However, if a shop needs to paint them, the cost will probably be the same. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to sand the primer coat (tamiya primer, or duplicolor grey auto primer) TOO much? i.e., sanding to a very smooth surface - say, 3200 grit sandpaper - can this negatively affect paint topcoats adhesion?
