Oct 2, 2012 · An AK is NOT the same as a Saiga 12 shotgun. It shoots a much higher pressure round for one, so reliable cycling is a non issue with good mags and ammo. It's more important to realize though, that an AK rifle has a much smaller bolt, and a different carrier profile, as well as a completely different gas system.

Feb 12, 2009 · The reason the puck is considered the gas piston on the shotgun is due to the gas rings on it. This is on the bolt carrier on a rifle, and the S-12 has a seperate part. Using the shotgun [operating rod] on a rifle would leave you with a piston with no gas rings. I don't think it would function well. That makes sense.
Saiga 12 failing to cycle & and eject shells
Dec 14, 2008 · Location:Inola, OK. Posted December 17, 2008. In order to drill the two additional ports, you need to remove the gas block so you can angle them rearward. To remove the gas block, you need to drift out the two pins that hold the gas block in position and then press the gas block off the barrel with a hydraulic press.
Ejection Problem with Saiga 12
Aug 19, 2011 · Have new Saiga 12 but have ejection problems. Shooting Winchester 12 guage 2 3/4 low brass. Tried both settings and still had problems. Replaced the plug with MD Arms V-Plug Improved Saiga 12 gas plug. Also, replaced the piston with MD Arms Saiga Booster Piston. Still have ejection problems. Have fired maybe 2 boxes of shells through the weapon.

Apr 17, 2008 · If it's big and round, you have the staked one. The older style that unscrews is smaller at the base and has two flat sides for gripping it to unscrew it. The people who have gotten my Cobra Rail, and who have the new style bead are grinding the bead flat and drilling / tapping the GB for the attachment screw.

May 5, 2011 · So you had the Krebs before I just converted & shot today with front sight on & was tagging bowling pins at about 50-60 yrds. That looks good how easy is it to install is it same diameter. Same diameter. Just unscrew the post, take out the detent, use new detent and screw this one in. A lil pricey though at $50.
