Choose the gauge with respect to the target bird. (For grouse, the 20 is a fine choice and 7/8oz works as well as anything else. Rule #2.

Nov 28, 2009 · IMHO shooting a grouse in the woods at 35 yards in a long shot. But, I'm sure others have different opinions on that. I was grouse hunting on Saturday in Pine County and didn't see another hunter all day. It was a beautiful day to be in the woods. Only probably was I didn't see a grouse all day . The new 2 3/4" #5 Pigeon Grade RST shells, are exceedingly effective for Grouse gunning in our modern guns. The 28 gauge CZ Bob White & the Huglu 200A SXS double guns are now like shooting 20 gauge guns in the Grouse woods.

Aug 12, 2010 · Now a days I use IC for most of my grouse hunting . Cylinder is ok for early season, but as the leaves fall the shots get longer and the birds get wilder. If I could have only one choke it would be modified. Good luck bird hunting. With early season foliage, many opt for mod, then switch to IC when the leaves fall.
