Aug 17, 2022 · All three of mine have been circa 2006. A Chenbro case, IBM server case, and an Alienware. The first two I got from the trash for free, the latter from FB marketplace. Occasionally I might see early 2000s cases on ebay too, if gutting a former server isn't ideal.

Mar 13, 2019 · ATX is the standard all modern motherboards are built to, with a standard back panel cutout for onboard connectors. ATX has been around for 20 years, so if the "old case" you get is ATX, you'll be fine. AT was the original PC case style, where there was a specific hole for an AT keyboard but not a big rectangle hole for a back panel.

I found a pretty cool C64 case but would prefer something that looks like a console. And yes I've seen case mods and stuff and while I build my own computers I don't know my way around a Dremel for stuff like that.

The goal of this project is to spray a modern case to look like an old school, beige tower from the 80s/90s. According to the case website, it's made of out of SGCC steel, which from what I understand is galvanised steel with a zinc layer on top.
