Regenerative braking | Volkswagen ID Forum
Apr 19, 2024 · When you press the brake pedal in D mode it uses regen the same as in B mode, and blends with the friction braking or switches to friction braking when necessary (like when you slam the brake pedal for a sudden stop).
Regenerative Braking-adjustment? - Volkswagen ID Forum
May 26, 2023 · The ID.4 lacks manual adjustment of the regenerative braking so nothing you can really do. I think it’s actually more effective with the update because it keeps it in the sweet spot of regenerative braking and captures more energy.
Coasting vs. Regenerative Braking - Volkswagen ID Forum
Nov 17, 2021 · As for slowing the vehicle, pressing the ID.4's brake pedal causes blended regenerative braking, so even in D mode, it can't be avoided, regen is about 90% of the equation under normal braking.
Regenerative Braking vs. Coasting: Volkswagen ID.4 Gets...
Dec 20, 2020 · A few days ago, Volkswagen let us know how the braking system operates on its upcoming ID.4 crossover. Unlike many EVs, the company optimizes for coasting instead of regenerative braking. When used properly by the driver, this maximizes range. Of course, the system also allows the driver to choose more regenerative braking if they want it. “It’s a difficult …
Regenerative Braking: More Details | Volkswagen ID Forum
Dec 12, 2020 · Without brake hold activated in my BMW, when I press on the brake; the hydraulic system takes over and line lock solenoid does not activate, as it would if I had brake hold "on" . If "hold" is activated, I need to kick start the forward motion which I "think" uses a little more energy than the creep mode.

Apr 28, 2021 · From reports so far the infotainment data is very accurate. According to VW - D is designed to be more efficient and it makes sense: Here is a good article about Brake or coast? Intelligent regenerative braking on the Volkswagen ID.4 The amount of benefit of D will vary depending on how much you use coasting, and how much the system learns your route and …
Dumb EV Question Re: Brake Lights | Volkswagen ID Forum
Jul 8, 2021 · If we are driving our ID 4 in B mode, do the brake lights come on when we are slowing? I was driving my friend's Tesla 3 the other day and the one pedal driving really stops the car quick. I assume the brake lights come on because I see them in Teslas in front of me. Do ours? Is that normal for...
Regen Braking — How efficient? | Volkswagen ID Forum
Mar 6, 2021 · Keep in mind, the ID.4 has strong regenerative braking, as it has a blended braking system. To use it, you press the brake pedal and all but the strongest braking is purely regen braking. If more braking force is requested via the brake pedal, the car automatically blends in …

Jan 24, 2025 · It is only under certain circumstances that the conventional friction braking come into play: when the car is nearly stopped, in an emergency, or if the regenerative system has failed. My suspicion is that there is something wrong with the regenerative braking system and that you are using friction braking all the time.
Does B mode result in more regeneration? - Volkswagen ID Forum
Dec 10, 2022 · Free rolling is a more efficient use of the kinetic energy than regeneration. However, in city driving, free rolling is mostly very limited. So, you have a choice of using the D mode with a lot of brake pedal use in city driving or using B mode with less brake pedal use. Brakes in the ID.4 are blended (regen plus friction).
