Most rectangular tables are between 36" and 40" wide. A table that seats four should be about 48" long. To seat four to six people, look for a table that is at least 60" long. For six to eight guests, your table should be at least 78" long. The rule of thumb is to allow 24" of space per seat at your dining table.

Rectangular tables have a wide range of shapes and sizes. You can easily find dining table size in feet for 4-6 people at 2'6" x 5' (76 x 152 cm) or larger tables for 10–12 people at 4'6" x 10' (137 x 305 cm). For six people, you can choose a rectangular top ranging from 2'6" to 3' (76-91 cm) and 5'-6' (152-183 cm).

For a small size rectangle, the standard is 30” or 36” wide by 48” long. Small rectangle tables seat 4 people comfortably. These sizes sometimes have leaves that expand the table to 60” long or more which can sit 6 people easily. The most common rectangular size is 42” wide by 60” long.
