  1. Raspberry Pi 5 or 4? (8gb ram) : r/homeassistant - Reddit

Moved last week from pi 4 2 gb to pi 5 4 gb, SSD, supervised Docker. It is supported when choosing HA installation, rpi 5 64 bit. Runs flawless, and Esphome compiles a bit faster :-)

  2. New to HA Is the Raspberry PI 4 8gb overkill? : r/homeassistant

I then upgraded to a Pi 4 8gb (64 bit Home Assistant OS) but found that ESP Home wouldn't run on 64 bit (I understand the same is true for some other add-ons, too). Finally, I migrated to a Pi 4 4gb and haven't looked back. I have loads of add-ons, many sensors, a lot of automatons running in node red, WireGuard VPN endpoint, Adguard Home ...

May 29, 2021 · Only then you might consider buying the 8GB version. Chances are you won't need 8GB anytime soon unless you're planning to run multiple VMs (which will still bottleneck unless you run things off a good SSD instead of the SD card).

  10. Raspberry Pi 5 4GB vs Raspberry Pi 5 8GB : r/selfhosted - Reddit

May 5, 2024 · Not the brand new mini PC, but you can get refurbished PCs at the same price of Rasberry Pi. Just search 'refurbished pc' on amazon. Source - I am from India. I selfhost a lot of stuff on Raspberry Pi 4 8GB. Planning on upgrading; but it won't be Raspberry Pi.
