A spring-fed stream, northeast orientation and high canyon walls provide Ramsey Canyon with a moist, cool environment unusual in the desert Southwest. Water-loving plants such as sycamores, maples and columbines line the banks of Ramsey Creek, often growing within a few feet of cacti, yucca and agaves.

Ramsey Canyon Preserve offers guided walks from March through November on an easy, shady trail. Guides share the lively natural and cultural history of the canyon, and explain why the canyon is rich in wildlife.

Nov 28, 2022 · Ramsey Canyon Nature Preserve protects a riparian habitat that used to be home to a dozen settlers. The easy path within the preserve parallels a creek with huge sycamore trees, pines, and maples that show off their colors in November.

Located in southeastern Arizona, Ramsey Canyon is at an ecological crossroads where elements from the Rocky Mountains to the north, the Sierra Madre of Mexico to the south, and the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts meet. The preserve headquarters include visitor parking, a nature center with a bookstore and hummingbird viewing.

Jul 25, 2005 · This loop out of Ramsey Canyon at the Nature Conservancy Preserve is fantastic. It makes an out-loop-and-back hike with good distance and elevation. The only caveat is that it incorporates a segment of the Huachuca Crest Trail - which seems to be the main avenue for the border crossers and their litter.

Ramsey Canyon is EXCEPTIONAL! Tombstone and Bisbee are essentials unless, of course you are a birder. If you have an extra day, do visit Ramsey Canyon. Plenty of hiking and birding here. Hike up the mountain. Spy on the many varieties of birds and other critters. Revel in Nature.
