
The Putah Creek Watershed
The Putah Creek Watershed is home to myriad rare plants and animals (including Western Pearlshell mussels), and a strong community of people who care about its preservation. Putah Creek is probably named for the Pooewin (Patwin) village, Puta-to, located in what is now downtown Davis.
Putah Creek Council
Putah Creek Council seeks to build relationships between Putah Creek and the surrounding community to restore and protect its habitat. By engaging community members in environmental stewardship and education, we are working to ensure the success and health of the creek for future generations of wildlife and humans.

The Putah Creek Council was guided by an elegant rule: base all positions on the best available evidence. We never sought to exaggerate our case. If anything, we were constantly conservative to protect our credibility and maintain the strength of our coalition.
OneCreek - Putah Creek Council
The OneCreek Putah Creek Restoration Program is a paid eight week program that provides hands-on experience within restoration projects in the Putah-Cache watershed.

Creekside Neighbors - Putah Creek Council
One of the most beloved critters of Putah Creek is the North American river otter. This charismatic, semiaquatic mammal has been spotted all along Putah Creek, from the Putah Creek State Wildlife Area below Lake Berryessa to the Yolo Bypass.
The Putah Creek Accord
After years of legal action, both the Solano County Water Agency and the Council agreed to accept the Putah Creek Accord, a flow regime that satisfied both sides and allowed for anadromous flows. The accord is supported by the best studies of what the creek’s environment requires and contains six elements:
Events from February 22 – March 30 – Putah Creek Council
Feb 1, 2025 · Join us on Saturday, March 1st from 9:30AM-12PM at Sackett Ranch, property that borders Putah Creek. We will be planting a variety of native species that support pollinators and other local wildlife. This is a collaborative project between Putah Creek Council and Solano County Water Agency.
What We Do - Putah Creek Council
For Putah Creek Council, caring for Putah Creek means a three-pronged approach: thoughtful education on creek science and environmental issues, restoring and actively managing key areas along the creek, and bolstering biodiversity in our Putah Creek Nursery.
Creek Explorers - Putah Creek Council
The Creek Explorers program provides opportunities for Solano and Yolo county PreK – 5th grade students learn more about the Putah Creek bioregion, including the native flora and fauna that make up the rich biodiversity of the watershed.
