Nov 18, 2021 · What worries you? A Prusa XL without input shaping was only slightly slower than the X1. The X1 is good, but it is overhyped. The XL will be very fast with input shaping. I just bought a device to does the same thing as input shaping on my Ender-3. It is now three times faster than a standard ender and about 1.5-2 times faster than my Prusa Mk3s.

Nov 18, 2021 · If everything Prusa's claiming functions well, I think the XL's a bargain. The Vorons and Rat Rigs seem capable and nice, but they're not comparable in price. The Voron entails a bit of work just to source all the parts.

Nov 18, 2021 · So, for me the hard choice is, in order of preference, are Voron - Prusa XL - Prusa MK4. I already own an MK3S+, so cannot justify an MK4 unless I take a hit and sell the MK3S+. More to the point, I really want a larger print volume machine.

Nov 18, 2021 · The alpha is pretty impressive, but I cannot figure out some things. I printed one item faster on the MK4 then the P1P by 4 minutes on a 38-minute print. Another was 22 minutes slower on a 4-hour print. I wonder if it is an acceleration difference. The MK4IS 5.0.0-RC speed gain over MK4 4.7.2...

Oct 14, 2019 · Yes. Although likely cheaper, the XL is supposed to be based on Marlin 2.0 and much more robust features. It will have a standard high quality Prusa bed sensor that is not a touch sensor. I have the CR-10 S Pro which is superior to the Ender 5+. I will likely wait for a Prusa XL to get the support and quality that comes from a Prusa.

The main limitation of using mainstream filaments is 'mixing' different filaments with very different print profiles in the same print. The printer wouldn't do well printing TPU and Nylon in the same print. This is where the Prusa XL that Chuck referenced will likely do better.
