May 9, 2022 · As a prequel fan, I’ll be honest, I was hoping they would not be good. I felt betrayed that Lucasfilm was choosing to ignore all things prequel era at that time. But then TLJ happened. It was a film that really nailed the concept of the force in the best way since Empire. The prequels had taken away the mysticism, but the sequels brought it back.

They seemed a case of more = better, without actually having anything with while happening for most of them. The fight on ROTS was pure gluttony. There felt like more emotion in the sequel fights, as though the stakes mattered more.

Oct 4, 2022 · The Sequel Trilogy had no overarching plot and each movie felt like a soft reboot of the previous one. That being said, I do think a lot of the dialogue was better which gave way to some better acting performances. I also enjoyed the lightsaber choreography a bit more compared to the prequel trilogy. It was more akin to the original trilogy imo.

It seems reasonable to say that the sequels will receive the same treatment as the prequels, that they will be seen as bad movies at first but then a new generation of sequel fans will overshadow the prequel fans and the consensus will seem to shift to them being good movies. After all, prequel fans successfully overshadowed the views of OT fans.
