[SOLVED] Coil Whine from PSU continues after PSU upgrade
Mar 30, 2019 · I thought that the noise was caused by my PSU because I heard that coil whine in PSUs can sometimes be heard in other parts of the computer so I got a new PSU. The PSU I got is the EVGA supernova 750 p2. Before I put the PSU in my computer I used the tester that came in the box with the PSU and I heard no buzzing noise.

All a coil is comprised of is a core with a copper wire wound around it. In a power supply circuit, coils are used to eliminate left over AC noise from the DC output.

I'm hearing coil whine on my pc, but its coming from the PSU not GPU. Anyone ever try that? Run Valley or Heaven Benchmark so it changes scenes and frame rates. Yes, a whine while under load isn't always the GPU.

Feb 16, 2015 · My GPU is OC'd using MSI AB to 2130 Mhz Core Clock and +700 Mhz on the memory clock, +100% Core Voltage and 124% Power Limit. CPU is also OC'd using the Ryzen Master PBO setting. I was wondering if a 750W PSU would be good enough or if I should go for an 850? I have used the online power calculators and they have come back 750-800w.

Sep 28, 2020 · After I switched the PSU I noticed an acute whine coming from the PSU. Seemed like it only happened while I was not actively using the PC like reading an article. I went to the store and they gladly replaced it for another RM750 saying it was coil whine. Now I have the same noise with the new unit but I found out it stops after it "warms up".
