Cold Steel Pipe Hawk vs Trail Hawk vs Riflemans Hawk
Aug 12, 2016 · I initially chose the pipe hawk for edge length, weight and aesthetics - I like the look of the pipe hawk. After using it on a regular basis for awhile, I have been tempted on occasion to cut the poll down to save weight, but have resisted because I use it for hammering nails and stakes. The Comparison Between the Cold Steel conventional tomahawks
May 22, 2018 · Also the pipe hawk cutting edge is longer than the trail hawk (but I think it's shorter than the Rifleman). I like the pipe hawk for short trips I don't anticipate heavy wood working. It's a dandy little tool for a night out, keeping the pack smaller and lighter while still having a good wood processing tool for light to medium applications ...
Pipe or Frontier 'hawk? - Bushcraft USA Forums
Jul 16, 2014 · Pipe Hawk: a little more cutting edge with a usable hammer poll. The size and shape of the head looks like a reasonable compromise of weight and usefulness. I like the 22" length of the Trail Hawk, and this comes close. Frontier Hawk: no …

[Poll] Which is your favorite Cold Steel Tomahawk?
Mar 29, 2020 · I have a pipe hawk, it's OK, I think the extra metal and the longer edge are better than the trail hawk. I do believe the Hudson Bay would be an even better tool for the woods though, the poll looks more useful, the edge a bit longer. Kind of a …

Jan 30, 2016 · I thought I'd post some pictures of my Pipe Hawk modifications. I stripped the paint and sanded to get out the worst of the casting pits. I did some filework on top and around the screw hole. I got a lot of inspiration for this from some …
CS Pimp Hawk - Bushcraft USA Forums
Jul 9, 2013 · I settled on the CS Pipe Hawk for the 17 ounce head weight, but since I have another CS hawk I now have a variety of handles to choose from. I use a 16” for the Frontier hawk and the regular 22” for the Pipe hawk. I’ve had another hawk handle for about a year and decided to cut it down to 14” for that hatchet weight and feel.
Cold Steel tomahawk thread! - Bushcraft USA Forums
Aug 18, 2018 · The trail hawk has a much different geometry and VERY thin cheeks which means the hatchet splits better and doesnt bounce back from wood near as bad. I had to sharpen the trail hawk quite a bit as well. It depends on your uses. The trail hawk is only $20 IIRC and the GB is $120, so it really cant hurt to try out the hawk first and see what you ...

Aug 15, 2024 · I just meant like their pipe hawk isn't an actual, functional pipe hawk to smoke in, etc There was a hammer hawk find down South somewhere I forget... but it's look, size, and dimensions were near identical to Cold Steel's Trailhawk. I've seen maybe one museum example where someone had filled in the bowl to make it a poll hawk.
tomahawk choice..CRKT or Cold Steel? | Bushcraft USA Forums
Jan 21, 2017 · Now, if I had to use it in a fight, I'd take my Trailhawk over my Chogan or Pipe hawk because it's thinner, lighter and faster, plus the hammer could be used as a "less then lethal" alternative to splitting someone's head wide open. This is why my Trailhawk resides on the headboard of my bed, right next to my XDM in 45acp. Just my 2 cents, YMMV.
