If you take off too much wood the sucker growth is much greater. A good rule of thumb is never to take off more than 10% of the fruiting wood in one year.

Forage oats do best with 50-60 units of nitrogen (1st 13 in 13-13-13). That works out to 400-450 lbs of 13-13-13. You will likely need a lot more phosphorus (2nd 13), or hardly any at all.

The area I hunt there is very little cover so I don't have many options of stand placement. I was thinking about wrapping some type of camo netting around the main part of the stand but concerned if that wouldn't look too natural.
