Aug 19, 2007 · I got the carb off, cleaned the body and pans, then went to get the jets out to inspect. The Main Jet came right out, but then I went to get the pilot jet when I noticed the head was stripped (...curse the previous owner). Normally I know how to handle said situations, but this jet is "inside" the assembly.

Aug 1, 2012 · The picture you inked to shows the "B" or "C" model VB44 carburetors with the threaded pilot jets. Despite having similar bodies, the "A" model (what I have) with the press in pilot jets has a different configuration. The "A" model VB44's were only used for ~1.5 years, and I'm having trouble finding info specific to the "A" model.

Feb 28, 2006 · The inside of the carb's float bowl was spotless as was most of the rest of the carb. However, when I pulled the pilot jet it was clogged solid. I let it soak in B-12 Chemtool for an hour but it was still blocked, and I couldn't push a straw from a broom through the hole. I couldn't blow it out with an air compressor either.

Mar 10, 2012 · Basically if you look down the slith that you use to screw the jet into the carb, ther is no hole there, its solid. Note: on the tip of the jet, there is a machined hole but it doesn't make any sense as the head of the jet is solit, it will simply act as a plug in the carb. Is this a defective jet or did I buy a different model?

Feb 22, 2010 · This is from memory, so take this with a grain of salt; you should re-jet for every 3000' of elevation gained/lost with respect to main jet. For every 3 main jets, you'll need to adjust the pilot jet. For instance, on my ex-DR350SE, I would start with a 140 main and a 37.5 pilot at 700' ASL (Chicago). While riding the TAT, I rejetted several times.

Jul 14, 2009 · That said -I've had the pilot plugged a few times and nothing short of pulling the carb and cleaning would fix it. What mine does if I let it sit too long is get this crazy midrange stumble. My theory is that the tiny holes on the sides of the needle jet get clogged. A huge dose of Sea Foam has fixed it the last 2 times it happened.

Sep 6, 2017 · Why the odd sequence? Mainly because the pilot jet and the main jet - the ones that control low throttle openings and full throttle respectively - have a big influence on the mixture strength at around 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Much more influence than the mid-throttle settings have on the low and high openings.

Oct 25, 2009 · No " jet kit " is needed. 42.5 pilot / 140 main / 6F23 needle. Adjust the mixture screw for smoothest hot idle at 1500 RPM, shim the stock 6F23 needle .018 - .025 and you'll be good. Removing the snorkel isn't a bad idea.

Mar 7, 2009 · Don't need to completely remove carb, leave throttle cables alone, just pull the carb out enough to remove the 4 bowl screws (allen heads), remove the long skinney jet, it's the pilot jet. You'll need to buy a can of carb cleaner and spray it through the pilot jet (wear safety glasses please), then blow out with compressed air, repeat.
