The Mercury have qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in fifteen of its twenty-four years in Phoenix. The franchise has been home to players such as former UConn Diana Taurasi, Rutgers grad Cappie Pondexter, former Temple power forward Candice Dupree, former Baylor center Brittney Griner, and Australian guard Penny Taylor.

Leading the team in search of the franchise’s fourth WNBA title will be WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi, two-time league scoring champion Brittney Griner and four-time All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith, along with the team’s new offseason additions in 2019 WNBA All-Star Kia Nurse and Megan Walker, and returners Brianna Turner, Sophie Cunningham, Alanna Smith, Shey Peddy, Bria Hartley and Kia Vaughn.
