While it takes place in the same world (P3 has a lot of callbacks to P1 and P2) it takes place far enough into the future that they largely don't reference the actual events of the older games directly. So that's why Persona 1 and 2 seem to get overlooked a bit.

Persona 3 did a great job of changing things up, and it's music is fantastic, but the HUGE step down in monster designs is a crying shame. More than that, Tartarus is just so, so bland.

WEBOct 10, 2018 · Persona 1's story is really nonsensical and the battle system is just okay, really not enough to justify going through the grind. Persona 2 has the exact opposite problem, good characters and story, but an awful battle system. I would rather play P1 at the end of the day over 2 just because 2 is just painful to play as a game.

WEBApr 13, 2024 · To each their own, but I found the PSP OST for that Persona 1 port to be ear-wrenching, as the J-Pop inspired OST doesn't fit with the tone of that games setting, along with that OST having much fewer tracks than the original, leading to many songs being reused for situations where there were tracks exclusive to them.
