Jan 17, 2015 · Paracord is actually incredibly abrasive resistant and slightly elastic on its own. If you have a straight handle "such as on a double bit" doing a paracord wrap over an inner tube at the bottom of the handle can add a nice amount of grip and double as extra paracord "storage".

It's thinner than paracord so it takes up less space and can be used for smaller tasks. Lastly.. 1 roll is 470ft at 12.99$ and paracord is 100ft at 9.99 for the cheap stuff.

Dec 3, 2021 · With paracord, you can pull out the inner strands for other tasks. With bank line, you can separate the twists, and use the strands for other tasks. Bank line smells stinky; paracord doesn't. Paracord is way better for learning/practicing/showing knots. You can wrap a lot more bank line around your knife sheath than you can paracord. Etc. etc. etc.

Ideal for a stronger emergency line in a bag or kit where space and weight are at a premium. $0.50 a foot but you have to consider the fact that it's as strong as 1/4" double braid polyester which costs about the same.

SE Michigan. Aug 2, 2017. #3. I prefer poly for ridge lines because, as mentioned, it has less stretch. I also use poly straps for hammock suspension. Nothing worse than waking up all droopy and your butt scraping the ground. Also, poly floats and absorbs less water than nylon, so in some aquatic applications it's superior.

Mar 19, 2020 · I was trimming some p cord the other day and burning the ends and started to think about its potential use as tinder. So I took all the bits I accumulated and tested with a lighter. In short, they don't burn. I separated the inner strands and fluffed them up, slight flame when held to a lighter. The same with the sheath alone and combined.

For me the idea of having the inner strands present for "survival purposes" seemed cool at the time, but practically the added bulk of full para cord in my green jungle boots rubbed on my instep in an uncomfortable manner during long field exercises or conditioning hikes.
