Gestational Hypertension also referred to as Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension (PIH) is a condition characterized by high blood pressure during pregnancy. Gestational Hypertension can lead to a serious condition called Preeclampsia , also referred to as Toxemia.

Gestational hypertension or (high blood pressure during pregnancy) happens when your blood pressure is greater than 140/90 in the latter half of pregnancy (after 20 weeks).

Gestational hypertension and preeclampsia (including chronic hypertension with superimposed preeclampsia, eclampsia, and HELLP syndrome [hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets]) are hypertensive disorders induced by pregnancy that resolve postpartum.
