Apr 1, 2017 · Getting non-combat damage through with Nicol Bolas is a tried-and-true way to maximize his ability; we used to have to use stuff like Fire Whip or Pandemonium if we wanted to avoid having to actually connect via combat. Since the deck relies so little on actually playing Nicol Bolas, I think I'm going to pass on most of these.

Jul 27, 2012 · On that note, Augur of Bolas and Disciple of Bolas are shoe-ins. Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas gives you another planeswalker, but it might be tricky fitting in enough artifacts, especially since that clashes with the Augur's trigger.

Oct 29, 2020 · Commander is often played in multiplayer, so be ready to have to use Nicol Bolas, the Arisen's Ultimate multiple times. Inexorable Tide, Flux Channeler, and other cards that proliferate are great for boosting Bolas's loyalty to you, and are great when paired with the Scorpion God. Both of these need a strong mana base.

Two possible objections: First, Niv-Mizzet doesn't really look much like Nicol Bolas.
